San Francisco – Dodger fans will be able to enjoy baseball games again at Dodger Park once again, thanks to the arrival of the new Dodger High School Stadium.
The new venue will open in 2019, with the first game set for a June 25, 2021, game against the Atlanta Braves.
The stadium will have a capacity of 1,700 and will house the Dodgers’ minor league baseball team.
The venue will also house a number of other local and regional sporting events including the upcoming San Francisco Giants-San Diego Padres game on May 25, 2022.
Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said Tuesday that the new stadium will allow fans to enjoy games at Dodgers Park again.
“I think we can all agree that the Dodger Field Experience is the most exciting and most unique experience in the world, and we are proud to be part of the process that will bring it back to life,” Friedman said in a statement.
“We have a vision of bringing our fan experience to Dodger stadium in 2021, and I look forward to working with the community, the fans and our partners to deliver this great project to them.
The new Dodgers stadium will not only provide fans with a great baseball experience, but also a world-class experience for all ages, and bring a new level of entertainment to San Francisco, the city and the state.”
The stadium was built for the Dodgers in 2006 and is located in Inglewood, California, near Dodger Beach.
The site of the original stadium, which had a capacity for 2,600, was demolished in 2003.
The construction of the facility has been completed and the stadium will open for regular season play on June 25.
The Dodgers will also hold a series of home games at the stadium in 2018, which will be the first time the Dodgers will play in Dodger turf since 1995.
