Jim Crane, the owner of the Browns, has revealed he is “still very much in mourning” following the death of his brother-in-law, a former NFL player.
Mr Crane was among the first to speak about his brother, Joe, who died in a plane crash in December, after spending his last days with his family in New York.
He said his brother was a “good man, a good father, a great man”.
“We are not the same people, and we are a long way down the road from here,” Mr Crane told reporters in Cleveland on Thursday, just two weeks before the Browns play the Jets.
“It is a long road, and it will take a long time for us to get back there, and the way we feel right now, the way our family feels right now is we are just a country with no hope of getting back there.
Joe had been a very successful football player.
He was a player at the NFL level, he had a contract, and he was a father to our children.”
He was a good man, and a good husband, and great father.
He will be missed.
